Best of Occupational Therapy (06/24/2020)

This week, the best of occupational therapy includes: autism and race, people with disabilities and law enforcement, SPD, ADHD, OCD and OT, and the lactation and breastfeeding dyad.

Curious What “The BOOT” is?

Here’s the Deal: This is where I bring you the best of the best from the field of OT.

I’ll consume all sorts of wonderful occupational therapy content. This includes podcast episodes, blog posts, videos, journal articles, social media posts, you name it.  Then, I’ll pick my favorites for you to enjoy.

Moreover, if you want to get all of this amazing OT content sent right to your inbox, make sure to sign up here.

Is there anything that you think should be included in the BOOT? Email me and let me know: sarah@ot4lyfe.com.

More importantly, let’s find out who gets “The BOOT” this week…

Race and Autism

Listen in on Meg Proctor’s most recent podcast interview with Lydia X. Z. Brown which dives into autism, disability, and race.

Police, Disabilities, and OT

How OT Changed One Family’s Life

I love reading about occupational therapy in the news, especially when it involves a happy caregiver or recipient of services. This article describes how OT dramatically helped one child with ADHD, OCD, and SPD and his family.

A two-fer interview discussing what it looks like working in the specialty area of lactation and breastfeeding.

Thanks Lyfers!

On Monday I released a brand new podcast episode which was a little different than anything I have done before, but super fun to put together. Recently I asked the OT 4 Lyfe community what their go-to OT resources are. I compiled all the voicemails and comments and shared them in my most recent episode. I also announced the first, official Lyfer of the Month. The response so far has been amazing and I could not have done it without the help of all the Lyfers!!

Today marks the start of the next #30daymovementchallenge. We just finished 30 days doing 50 squats every day. And now we are on to… Planks! For the next 30 days, join me and the OT 4 Lyfe community in doing a 1 minute plank every single day. Wanna join in? All you have to do is post a video on your Instagram story and tag me @ot.4.lyfe so we can hold each other accountable #accountabilOT.

Do you have questions or comments or just wanna say “Hi!”? Wanna suggest something for the best of occupational therapy? Reach out to me! I would love to hear from you:

Cheers!
