W is for WFOT

The World Federation of Occupational Therapists.

WFOT aims to promote the profession and connect occupational therapists from across the globe. As of right now, there are 101 full member organizations and 21 associate members, representing over 550, 000 therapists from all over the world. There is a international congress that is held every four years, the most recent one being in Capetown, South Africa in 2018.

I was fortunate enough to attend the congress last year and let me tell you it was one of the best OT moments that I have had to date. I met so many amazing therapists from all over the world and learned from some super inspirational people.

If you read my V is for Viking Ship Post, you heard about my trip to Iceland and Olga was one of the therapists that I met while I was there. Olga and I became immediate friends and have remained in contact ever since. It was so nice to reconnect with her while at the WFOT conference and get to spend some time together exploring a new place.

If you are in the states, in order to become a member of WFOT, you must sign up through your AOTA membership and I highly recommend that any one who is interested in OT across the globe become a member of WFOT.

Are you a member of WFOT?
