S is for Seeing Things Differently

This is something that we as OTs do really well. We see a problem and then use our OT brains to come up with a creative solution to address the problem. It is also very well known that we can also never quite turn off our OT brains.

Last summer while vacationing with my family, everyone kept tripping over the threshold in the doorway between the hallway and the living room. Quickly identifying this as a massive safety hazard, I sprung into action to do something about it before someone got hurt. I used something we had on hand to bring awareness to the threshold so everyone had to purposefully step over it, drastically decreasing the number of trips.

Problem was solved and of course everyone kept laughing at my killer MacGyver skills.
