R is for Routines

We as occupational therapy practitioners have always known that routines are important for health. But now more than ever, we are discovering how a change in routine impacts health.

Due to COVID-19, all of us have been affected in some way shape or form. Some of us have had our hours cut or lost our jobs, while some of us have transitioned to providing therapy or teaching/learning online, and still others are continuing to provide care to clients face to face but deal with the ever changing precautions to protect workers and clients during this time.

I know for me adjusting to spending much more time at home has been interesting. Over the past few weeks, I have completely redefined my understanding of routines and have realized their importance ever more than before.

What have you learned about your routines during this time?
