D is for Developmental Evaluation

Working in early intervention, I perform developmental evaluations that are pivotal in identifying delays in the youngest of populations, birth to 3 years of age.

Within my area, a developmental evaluation consists of administering the Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development, as well as completing portions of the DAY-C (Developmental Assessment of Young Children).

Utilizing my OT lens, I evaluate the child through a holistic approach, looking at cognitive function, communication, fine and gross motor skills, adaptive behavior, and social emotional development.

Having reliable, standardized, and normed developmental assessments is an essential component to helping and educating young children and their families.
