Is there anything that you think should be included in the BOOT? Email me and let me know.

Also, make sure you subscribe to the podcast and feel free to join in on the discussion in the free community.

More importantly, let’s find out who gets “The BOOT” this week…

Hey BOOTers!!

I know it’s been awhile. But don’t think I have forgotten about you.

Last year, I strived to put out a BOOT post every week and honestly I have had so many things pop up that I also want to be working on. So after some consideration, I have decided to put out a BOOT post once a month and compile the best of the best over an entire month.

So without further ado, here is the first official “Best of Occupational Therapy” in 2021 and in it are some great resources for various practice areas.

Mental Health

This is a brand new account that is here to focus on the mental health of practitioners and students. It aims to help people prevent burnout, while providing a safe place, support, and a judgement free zone.

Older Adults

If you are an OT practitioner or student working with older adults, the Seniors Flourish Learning Lab is exactly what you need. It has a host of treatment ideas, evidenced based research, and resources to help you thrive in this setting.

School-Based OT

OT Schoolhouse is a website and podcast, as well as has various courses and resources geared specifically for OT practitioners working in the school system.

Teletherapy

In this digital age and in the land of Covid-19, teletherapy has exploded on to the scene. If you’re looking for more resources about using teletherapy in your practice, check out The Telehealth OT.

Early Intervention

Working in early intervention can be super isolating and tough to find resources and mentorship. That’s why I came together with two amazing OT practitioners, Amirra Johnson and Danielle Delorenzo, to create The Real OTs of Early Intervention. We have a new podcast and an instagram account with lots of resources that we roll out daily. We are also working on a mentorship program, as well as offering consultations and courses so stayed tuned for more information.

Lyfe Update

I still can’t believe that it is 2021 already and that January is almost over.

I recently hit a huge milestone with my podcast, having over 150,000 downloads and all I can say is thank you. Thank you for being here, for downloading my show, and showing your support. It seriously means the world to me.

I am also about to hit another podcast milestone and that’s 100 episodes. I released episode 98 this week talking about The Power of Incorporating Animals into Therapy.

Next Monday will be episode 99 in which I will be sharing reflections from the year that was 2020. I have some amazing voicemails from the OT 4 Lyfe community already. If you want to submit your own reflection, head on over to https://ot4lyfe.com/questionofthemonth/ for a direct link to leave a voicemail. You’ll have 90 seconds to state your name, where you’re calling from (blog, podcast, social media channel, school, etc.) and then your response. If you have more to say, feel free to leave another voicemail or two. I will also chime in my own reflections from last year and will be announcing something huge that I have not shared about yet.

Got lots of fun stuff coming your way this year so stay tuned. Hope your 2021 is off to a great start so far!

Got resources you want to share? Hit me up because I would love to feature them or have you as a guest blogger for “The BOOT”. Contact me here.

Cheers!
