Curious What “The BOOT” is?

Here’s the Deal: This is where I bring you the best of the best from the field of OT.

Addressing Vestibular in the Home

Being that we are stuck at home due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, our sensory systems are adjusting to a new activity level normal. But that doesn’t mean that we still can’t help our kiddos get some much needed vestibular input.

I’ve posted a few articles about teletherapy over the past few weeks, but this one details the specific platforms you can use.

That Mortifying Moment As A New Grad

We’ve all had it. That time when we were asked something when we were a new practitioner and were completely appalled that we didn’t know the answer. Miss Jamie OT shares her personal story of this experience when she was just recently hired as a school-based OT.

When Podcasters Are Stuck At Home…

They end up creating a brand new show. I mentioned last week that I teamed up with two other OTs to create The OT Roundtable Podcast. Well, I met up with my Podcast Mastermind group this past week and found out that two other of my podcaster friends also started new shows.

Check out the K-8 Collaborative Podcast with Jordan Grumet to hear information about progressive education. He also has some episodes on about parenting, trauma, and resilience in children during the Coronavirus pandemic.

We all need a little positivity in our lives right about now. Good thing Lara McElderry, from Married to Doctors, has a brand new show all about Positivity When Social Distancing.

OT Month is Here… Finally!

A few amazing occupational therapists and organizations are all set to role out their OT Month specials.

Don’t miss Shannen Marie OT’s fifth annual #ABCsofOT, where each day she posts a word that corresponds with the current letter that represents occupational therapy, i.e. day 1 is A… A is for accessibility, day 7 is G… G is for Goniometer, all the way through to the letter Z. Join her as she promotes the amazingness of our profession through words and pictures that depict who were are and what we do as OT practitioners.

There is also @8alexisjoelle coming in with her fourth annual #OTgratitude #BecauseofOT challenge, in which she aims to help you reconnect with your soul for OT and establish your OT being.

And the American Occupational Therapy Association is also getting in on the fun with 30 days of fun activities to show OT pride.

And then I’ve got my second annual #OTMonthOccupations where I highlight the amazing practitioners within our community by sharing what makes our profession unique… OCCUPATIONS. Join me as each day I’ll share one #OTpractitioner, their favorite occupation, and why that occupation is important to them. Let’s promote the distinct value of occupational therapy this month and all year round to bring awareness and advocacy for this wonderful profession.

Join In the Fun

Life has been interesting over here adjusting to the new normal of being at home 24/7, but I’ve been handling it pretty well. I am excited to share my OT Month Occupations and participate in a few others to bring some positivity into my life right now and bring me back to why I love this profession in the first place.

I also released a special podcast episode today in which I’m bringin’ occupation back to continue to promote the distinct value of OT.

I know there is a lot going on these days and I want you to know that I am here for you. If you have any questions or want to see anything specific talked about in the BOOT, please let me know. If you just need someone to chat with, hit me up. Even though we might be apart, we are all in this together.

Take care of yourself, your family, and your clients.
